The condition is excellent with no chips on the sawtooth rim, a few faint wear lines on the glossy interior only visible when angled to the light. The tray rests on those long, flashed fans between the five vesicas housing those stretched hobstars. As a result, many of the high miter ridges on the fans have teeny pinprick fritting on them. When I first inspected this tray, I thought the fritting was notched prism accenting as is often seen and thought nothing of it.When washing/drying the tray, I discovered it was actually light fritting. There are also a couple of other nips hiding in busy pattern but nothing of note. This piece has all the characteristics of American Brilliant Cut Glass but I can't say it is. It does not blacklight any color at all. It does not strike me as Bohemian either, or Austrian, or anything else in particular. One expert suggested it was cut by Pepi Herrmann, but who knows? It's a beauty, regardless of origin.
